BÄR SHOES PRESENTS PILOT PROJECT “scan2fit”
From October 10, the BÄR Manufactory will launch the innovative “scan2fit” project at its outlet in Bietigheim-Bissingen for optimal foot analysis using a 3D scan.
During this period, interested customers will have the special opportunity to have their feet scanned and analyzed free of charge. The scanner identifies misalignments and provides an excellent basis for analyzing complaints. The precise digital recording of the foot provides information about size, width, circumference, etc. The individual scan data is transmitted to an intelligent program that automatically evaluates the foot. BÄR manages all its lasts digitally and can use the foot scan to match the appropriate shoe size from the anonymized data and even determine model recommendations.
In the shoe trade, BÄR’s “scan2fit” method is a sensational innovation and advancement in foot analysis of its kind. This complex software solution has so far been absolutely unique in the industry. Customers benefit from the incomparable added value of having “their” model recommended to them—one that fits their foot perfectly and offers the greatest comfort. This means that problems can not only be identified and analyzed, but also solved directly.
Another advantage is that, at the customer’s request, BÄR’s “scan2fit” can manage digital measurement data and, for example, compare scans from different points in time. This makes it possible to identify changes in the foot.
BÄR’s lasts can be improved based on all scans in order to optimize fit in the future, reduce the return rate in mail-order sales, and protect the environment. BÄR sees great potential for learning from the evaluation of anonymized mass data and hopes this will provide an exciting foundation for adapting shoe development to customers’ needs.

In the near future, customers will be able to order orthopedic shoe insoles at BÄR that are perfectly tailored to their shoes. This gives customers an additional service, reduces the effort required on their part, and saves time. BÄR’s vision is the customer-specific 1:1 production of suitable shoes in its own facility—a perfect fit for every foot: analyze the foot, select the recommended model and size, and receive an exclusively made-to-measure shoe at the price of a standard model.
The concept was developed jointly with one of the most experienced last makers in the footwear industry and an innovative, leading provider of orthopedic measurement systems.
